MISSION STATEMENT AND LEADER’S INTENT

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide incident management leadership, expertise, and support to the firefighters and

public we serve and to the Agency Administrators to whom we are held accountable.

LEADER'S INTENT

  • While everyone has a boss, leaders must be empowered to make decisions. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO DO SO.

  • Conduct all incident operations and activities in a manner that minimizes risk to the firefighters, team members, and the public.

  • Effectively communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with the hosting agency(s) and affected publics, cooperators, partners, and organizations.

  • Provide a work environment that is free of harassment, values diversity, and fosters mutual respect.

  • Ensure that utilization of all assets, including aviation assets, is consistent with incident objectives, is cost effective, and considers associated risks.

  • Seek out stakeholders and local expertise that may assist in achieving incident objectives.

  • Manage incident costs and expenditures consistent with direction contained in the appropriate Delegation of Authority, Agency Administrator’s Briefing, published Incident Decision or other decision support documents.

  • Provide mentoring and training opportunities that will lead to increased IMT participation and capacity.

  • Recruit future team members and trainees.

  • Ensure all transitions are timely, orderly, and managed to meet the expectations of hosting agencies and transitioning teams.

  • During all phases of engagement, all personnel are encouraged to stop, think, and talk before acting.

WHAT THE AGENCY ADMINISTRATOR (AA) CAN EXPECT FROM THE TEAM

  • An honest, realistic, and professional assessment of options.

  • Constant communications.

  • Management of the team to ensure work can be completed.

  • A culture of safety and a workplace free from harassment or discrimination.

  • Documentation as needed.
