 Qualifications

To be eligible for the grant:

You must be a current registered member of the RMRM club.

Attend at least 3 days of the national meet and participate in RMRM relays. 

Demonstrate that financial support is necessary for them to be able to attend the national championship.

Be able to demonstrate the potential to score individual points for RMRM based on demonstrated times, and the ability to score points will be considered in the application process.

Preference will be given to swimmers who have never attended a national championship meet.

• Application Process

Letter requesting the grant and fulfilling the above qualification, including a listing of proposed events, expected times for those events, and the corresponding National Qualifying times.

Applicants should also provide a brief letter of support from their coach. Other letters can be submitted as needed to support their application.

Applications must be received at least two months before the start of the national championship meet. 

For 2025, the application deadline will be February 14.  

The applications will be reviewed by a committee set up by the BOD. This committee will decide on a deserving male and female athlete within two weeks of the application deadline. If no deserving athlete is from one gender, two grants can go to one gender.

• Grant Procedure 

After recipients are selected, they will receive a $1,000 check from RMRM. 

• Grant Review

After the national meet, the RMRM coach will write a review of the athlete’s performance.  This will include a review of the athlete’s meet performance along with their attitude and interaction with other team members. The grant recipients are encouraged to submit their feedback on attending the national championship meet and the grant process.  

• Budget

For 2025, the grant fund will have a minimum budget of $2,000. RMRM will publicize the grant, solicit contributions from the membership, and contact RMRM coaches. For 2025, we have a donor who will match all contributions up to $2,000 and provide additional funding as needed to reach the minimum desired goal of $2,000. This grant process and funding are expected to continue in future years.  

• Donations

Donations from all RMRM swimmers are gratefully accepted and will be matched by the primary donor. Donations should be provided no later than 15 February 2025 for the 2025 grant process.
