For project 2 we had to save a dog in a well using the materials provided to us by Gore Engineers. The picture to the left is what the final design looked like and it saved the dog in 24 seconds. The way it was built, was two clothespins are attached to each other with the gore EPTFE fiber attached to the lower clothespin, in order for the lower clothespin to be attached to the dog we had to add a counter weight which was two coin bags with 5 quarters each to keep it stable. Once attached the fiber would be pulled to lift the dog up to safety!
The criteria for the project is we had to design something that saved the dog in under 3 minutes, our hand cannot go inside the well, in addition our professor gave us one more criteria, on how he did not want to see a sled type build for the final design.
