THE PLAYHOUSE is a Graphic Novel based upon an existing theater building located in Edinburgh Scotland. The story is about a young boy who learns about the abandoned old theatre 'the playhouse' and out of interest he wants to investigate it. He explores the inside of the empty building until he realizes he's not alone. There's a ghost that stalks him along with a clown who doesn't seem the have the best intentions. When trying to escape the building he discovers that nothing is like it seems inside the playhouse, perspectives don't make sense and there are corridors and rooms where there shouldn't be any.
The story is based on the folklore of its popular ghost named 'Albert'. He appears to be an old janitor who used to work at the playhouse many years ago.
The reason for the novel is to make people aware of the buildings existence and get people interested into visiting the location and seeing it for themself. I want to give more recognition to buildings and city's that foreigners may not know anything about. I intent to stimulate tourists to visit places that could use more recognition.
I usually choose places in my favorite city in the world (Edinburgh) as a theme where I work lately. I'm currently working on another graphic novel about a haunted pub in Edinburgh and the haunted vaults that live around it. Meanwhile I show the various ghosts and lore attached to them as well.
Locations
I draw the locations as accurate as possible by visiting the buildings and structures myself in person and capture them on both paper and on camera.
Do you have a building with a dark background/history or ghost story that you would like me to make illustrations for? Contact me via my mail and we can keep in touch.
