WORKSHOP - IRIM3D 2026
Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Intelligent Machines
🗓️October 24, 2026 🌍Rome, Italy
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
What does it mean for a robot to be intelligent?
What does it mean for a robot to be intelligent? The workshop brings together four nearly complementary viewpoints on robotic intelligence: cognitive intelligence, artificial intelligence, control-theoretic intelligence, and embodied or physical intelligence
Reasoning, representation, and action from a cognitive science perspective
Learning algorithms and AI shaping robotic behaviour and autonomy
Cybernetics, feedback, adaptation, and regulation as forms of intelligence
Morphology, body–environment interaction, and emergent behaviour
TOPICS
Topics of interest
Submissions are welcome on topics including, but not limited to:
Conceptual foundations and interdisciplinary approaches to understanding intelligence emergence in robotic systems
Cognitive perspectives on robot reasoning, representation, and action
The role of artificial intelligence in shaping robotic behaviour and autonomy
Control-theoretic and cybernetic perspectives on intelligence, adaptation, and regulation
Embodied and physical accounts of intelligence in robots through morphology and body–environment interaction
Representational, reactive, embodied, and hybrid views of robotic intelligence
INVITED SPEAKERS
Confirmed speakers
The speakers are characterised by an interdisciplinary background and will share their experiences about the different facets of robotic intelligence.
