Background & Objective

Purpose: Design, build, and test a robotic toolbox that can hand you a requested tool. In addition, have the robot built atop an autonomous cart that can navigate to your location.

Significance: A robotic toolbox can save the user time and enhance convenience. However, the system can be retrofitted for other tasks such as helping disabled people, elderly and in various industrial applications.

Implementation: A 3D printed robotic arm powered by a series of DC motors driven by open-source microcontrollers and controlled by the smartphone via Bluetooth. The arm sits on a belt driven rail system which is mounted on a DC motor driven autonomous cart which is outfitted with an array of ultrasonic sensors. Power is distributed via two 12V lead acid batteries.
