Resources

All campers are being provided with the following software and hardware.

  1. SnappyXO hardware kit
  2. Mechatronics kit
  3. MotionGen app
  4. ArduinoBlue bluetooth app and corresponding libraries for interfacing with Arduino connected sensors and actuators

SnappyXO Design is a design-driven educational robotics framework. Users can first synthesize the motion using the MotionGen app and then put the structure together using the hardware and mechatronics kit.

What sets this apart from other robot kits in the market is that there is an emphasis on learning how to design robot motions and then program them using open source, commodity programming environment and low-cost, readily available electronics components.

MotionGEN

Use MotionGen to draw and simulate linkage mechanisms. Then make your mechanism come to life using SnappyXO.

Key Features of SnappyXO Hardware

Modular

The kit consists of a suite of basic planar pieces that can be snapped together to create the robot and machine design structure encompassing chassis, sensors, and actuator mounts.

Novelty

The novelty of the kit is in designing the compliance in a wide variety of materials, such as Acrylic and Delrin by creating unique geometrical features, such as slots, shapes, holes, and clips.

Easy to Produce

Only a laser cutter and compatible materials, such as Delrin, Acrylic, or wood are needed to produce SnappyXO parts.

Versatile

Various joints and parts including different gear sizes allow the kit to be highly versatile for making robots and structures.

No Tools

The kit does not require any special tools to assemble the robots and structures and the hardware created works with a range of sensors and actuators available in the market.
