In December, we adopted a class from the Bronx, PS89. They gave us a wishlist of their top three items each and we went out and raised over 2000 dollars to get them. Plus, we had enough money to buy the whole school candy. We did this with another FLL team from our school, Brainstormers 1087, and a FTC team from our highschool, RoboPhantoms 27168
In January, we hosted a sweatshirt drive in our school. Overall we collected over 80 sweatshirts that we donated to the Patchouge Soup Kitchen for people who need them.
Also in January, we volunteered at a Christopher Coluccio Foundation event. The Christopher Coluccio Foundation is all about Suicide Prevention, and we went to help raise awareness. Students K-12 were able build lego structures and compete against their peers.
Our FIRST Fun Night raises awareness about FIRST in our community. The event is for upcoming students in 3-6 who will be able to compete with FLL or FTC. The night is filled our core value based activities, like "Human Coding" and the spaghetti and marshmallow tower challenge. Our team, along with teams Brainstormers 1087 and RoboPhantoms 27168 will host this event.
On February 15, we hosted a food drive at King Kullen in Patchogue. The Chestene M. Coverdale Food Pantry reached out to our school asking us to host a food drive. Our school asked us to host the drive and we eneded up collecting over 30 cases of food and $200 in $10 King Kullen gift cards.
For our families, we hosted a potluck in our school. Us, the Brainstormers 1087, FTC RoboPhantoms 21768, and any alumni of the programs with their families were invited. Each team did a presentation about this year's season to all of thhe family members since they don't always get a chance to see it. This is another one of our annual events and it's a succesful every year.
