School Visit Options

Story Structure, a Creative Writing Workshop, suitable for 4th Grade and up:

Students explore the basic elements of story structure as I guide them through an interactive session to plot their own stories. Using a PowerPoint presentation and well-known examples, I lead a group activity to brainstorm the basic structural elements, i.e. “beats”, as a vehicle for discussing and learning story structure. Concepts are streamlined for grade level and timeframe or expanded into a writing workshop where students continue to work individually or in groups to create their own books. When time allows, students are encouraged to read their stories to the class. Author Q&A included.

In-person, Single session (1 - 2 hours), suitable for 4th Grade and up:

A single session can include any or all of the following: the above Story Structure Creative Writing Workshop, author Q&A, read-aloud, and book signings. (Book sales are optional and offered at a discounted price to students.)

Cost: $200

Additional sessions can be booked on the same day at the same location for $100 per additional session.

Note: In-person events that are located more than 25 miles from Missoula, Montana, have a travel fee ($0.50 per mile) and lodging expenses (if necessary):

If multiple schools/libraries in an area schedule a visit for the same day or consecutive days, these expenses can be shared.

Virtual Author Visit
This is a virtual version of my in-person author workshop, up to 1-hour long. Invite as many classrooms from the same school as you like!
Cost: $150

FREE Visit to Book Club or Classroom Q&A
When your class or book club has finished reading my book, I would be happy to join you virtually for up to 20 minutes for a question-and-answer session. Feel free to ask me anything! If you're in the local Missoula area, there's a possibility I could stop by in person.
