Hi, I'm Robert Reardon—an incoming Assistant Professor of Finance at Elon University's Martha & Spencer Love School of Business.
I’m originally from Pittsburgh, spent many years in South Carolina, and eventually made my way down to Florida to earn a Ph.D. in Finance at Florida Atlantic University. Before that, I studied Statistics at the University of South Carolina (yes, I willingly took multiple semesters of calculus and statistical theory), with minors in Risk Management, Insurance, and Political Science—because apparently I couldn’t pick just one.
These days, I spend most of my time thinking about entrepreneurial finance, fintech, and how regulation collides with innovation. I’m especially interested in new ways people and companies raise capital, and what happens when traditional corporate finance theory meets alternative markets. Now, as a professor at Elon, I get to keep asking those questions—and sometimes even answer them.
When I’m not in professor mode, you’ll probably find me planning my next trip, reading, or volunteering in the community. Favorite countries so far? Croatia, Italy, and Iceland. Favorite books? The Book Thief and Killers of the Flower Moon. I’ve even made separate pages for my travel and book recommendations, because why not? Please check them out!
