I am Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at Santa Clara University in the San Francisco Bay area, and received my Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Southern California.
I specialize in comparative philosophy--especially Chinese-Western relations, business ethics, meta-ethics, and philosophy of language. I am particularly interested in how people understand and use value terms such as 'ought,' 'must,' 'good,' 'bad,' and so on, in different languages, cultures, and contexts.
In addition to my academic research and teaching, I do consulting work in business ethics and tech ethics, often with a focus on China. I've also taught ethics in the California Program for Entrepreneurs, plus I helped design and develop a module on global ethics for entrepreneurs for the World Economic Forum
Outside work, I love driving fast cars, cooking, exploring wine and craft cocktails, and playing Dungeons & Dragons.
