Seminar on monopole Floer homology.
Summer semester 2026
TIME: Tuesdays 10:00-12:00 in room IA 02/105 beginning on 28 April 2026
Organizer: Roberto Ladu (If you want to receive advertisements of the talks send me an email)
This seminar is aimed at PhD students and postdocs who have an interest in Floer homologies.
By the end of the seminar, one should be able to understand how to set up the construction of a Floer theory and what are the typical problems and solutions encountered in doing so. We will focus on the construction of monopole Floer homology as defined by Kronheimer and Mrowka [1].
This Floer theory offers several advantages: first of all the book [1] is very well written a gives a fully detailed construction of these homology groups. Moreover, the monopole framework is less non-linear than other models so allows us to concentrate more on the general techniques common to various Floer theories.
