Teaching

I started my teaching career as a senior in high school, working with my middle school band director with the sixth-grade band and the general music classes at Kendallville Middle School. While working on my Bachelor’s degree at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne, I was an assistant at Dekalb Middle School and High School, substituting in the school district when the directors had a planned day off. After graduating from IPFW with my Bachelor’s in Music Education, I substituted in Fort Wayne Community Schools and the surrounding areas until a full-time job opened up in FWCS in 2007. I taught band, orchestra, and general music at Portage Middle School from 2007 until 2010, when I went to Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, and worked on my Master’s Degree in Music with a focus on Music Education.

In 2020 I moved to Muncie and was the Assistant Band Director at Muncie Northside Middle School and the 6th-8th General Music Teacher at Muncie Southside Middle School for the 2020-2021 school year and stayed on at Bethel University. I was in the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township from August of 2021 through August of 2023. I was a substitute band director for most of the 2021-2022 school year. I was hired as the exploratory music teacher at the end of the 2022 school year and was there until August 2023. I currently work as a TA in the Bio-206 labs with Stu White.
