In these two assignments I was challenged to think about how culture, language, and my experiences have shaped my writing and overall communication. We were also challenged, particularly in What I learned as a read and writer, to reflect after writing our first essay on some of the challenges that writing the essay may have created. These reflections were designed to take a hard look at why we write and read the way that we do to ensure we develop better skills to be able to communicate more effectively.
Letter To My Teacher
This assignment is a letter to my teacher to introduce myself as well as reflect on how my experiences with culture, language, and education have shaped my communication and how I interact with the world.
In this letter I express my strengths and weaknesses as well as what I would like to learn over the course of this class.
7.3 Self Assessment Reflection 1: What I learned as a reader and writer?
In this reflection, after completing essay #1, I examined my growth as a reader / writer. We had prompt questions like: What challenges did you experience while developing your first academic/personal essay? And What did you learn about language, literacy, identity, or the power of communication that you hadn’t realized before? The original assignment and the self reflection highlighted how I learned about literacy, identity, diverse discourse communities and the power of communication.
