My name is Robert Brown; I am a returning college student who originally started school back in 2004 and now I am back to finish what I started. I was originally interested in Psychology as my major but have since switched my major to business marketing.
My father was in the air force, so I grew up a few different places. I have lived in Panama for a short stint, and then we were stationed at Travis AFB until he retired. Shortly after we moved to Sacramento and I have called Sacramento home ever since.
The reason why I have decided to continue my education is very personal to me. I lost my five-year-old son to a three-year battle with kidney cancer. Although it has affected me deeply, I have decided to honor him by finishing strong. Seeing him go to appointment after appointment and maintain his joy and laughter through it all has motivated me to live my life with more intention for him.
My faith is extremely important to me, and I do lot of ministry work for the church and outside of the church. Working with people from all kinds of different backgrounds and cultures has taught me how important communication truly is. In my personal study it has also become very important to be able to analyze text efficiently and write with professionalism and proficiency.
In this E-Portfolio, which will showcase assignments from throughout my fall semester for my English C1000 class, you will be able to track my growth as both a reader and a writer. My goal is to improve with every assignment and leave this class with better skills to communicate more effectively through my writing. I appreciate you embarking on this journey with me!
