We invite you to participate in RNO-AI 2019, the first comprehensive MICCAI workshop on Radiomics and Radiogenomics in Neuro-oncology using AI. RNO-AI 2019 will be held in conjunction with MICCAI 2019. The aim of RNO-AI is to bring together the growing number of researchers in the field given the significant amount of effort in the development of tools that can automate the analysis and synthesis of neuro-oncologic imaging. The main purpose of the workshop is to provide a stimulating environment for an in-depth discussion of important recent developments among experts in the field that enables future research impact in the field.

Scope

This workshop covers recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) applied to radiomics and radiogenomics in neuro-oncologic imaging which has improved our diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic methods, and helped propel the field into an era of precision medicine.

Topics

We solicit manuscript that use methods of medical image analysis focusing on:

  • Computer-aided detection and diagnosis of brain tumors
  • Segmentation of various sub-regions of brain tumors
  • Mathematical models for brain tumor growth and deformation of the neighboring area
  • Predicting and measuring response to treatment
  • Evaluation of peritumoral heterogeneity of tumors
  • Prognostication, and evaluation of pseudo-progression of brain tumors
  • Radiomic biomarkers of genomic mutations
  • Evaluation of intrinsic subtypes of tumors
  • Quantitative analysis of brain imaging modalities
  • Effect of preprocessing techniques on imaging modalities of brain tumors
  • Multi-institutional evaluation of radio(geno)mic biomarkers

Submission

The RNO-AI 2019 workshop will accept 8-page papers (LNCS-Springer format). Selected papers will be published in a Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) volume published by Springer.

Review Process

The review process for submissions will follow the standard (international) guidelines of the peer review process. Each submission will be blinded and forwarded to two referees for review. Conflict(s) of interest will be minimized by adopting the following steps:

  1. Papers will be blinded for the review process to minimize personal bias.
  2. Referees must not belong to the same institution as the authors.
  3. Referees must not have co-authored a paper with the authors in the last five years.
  4. Expertise of the referees will be matched with the topic of the submission.

The referees will grade the submissions as either (1) clear accepts, (2) borderlines, and (3) clear rejects and provide a numerical score for oral presentations. From the final list of accepted submissions, top 10 papers (based on numerical scores) will be selected for oral presentations.
