The Mechanical Engineering Department at IISc is organizing a Symposium on Deformation & Failure of Materials on 12th July 2025, at the AR Auditorium.

This symposium will bring together researchers and engineers to discuss recent advances in the understanding of deformation and failure mechanisms across a wide spectrum of materials, including metals, polymers, composites, and biomaterials.

The event is being held in honor of Prof. R. Narasimhan, on the occasion of his superannuation from IISc, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of mechanics of materials and fracture. There will be technical talk from his ex- students, collaborators and young experts in the field. 

Your presence will greatly enrich the discussions and help celebrate Prof. Narasimhan’s remarkable career. There will be a reminiscence session late in the late-afternoon session followed by dinner.
