When to Make a Referral: Referrals should be made when there is a concern for a student's personal, social, or academic well-being. This process is crucial for addressing issues that may affect a student’s success and overall well-being.
Who Can Make a Referral:
Self-Referral: Students facing personal challenges.
Peers: Concerned friends or classmates.
Parents/Guardians: Family members noticing concerning behaviors.
School Personnel: Teachers, counselors, or other staff members.
How to Make a Referral: Referrals can be made at any time using the Student Referral Form Link Below. This form ensures that concerns are documented and addressed promptly.
Urgent Situations:
Self-Harm: If you are reporting self-harm, please contact Ms. Jefferson or Dr. Thomas immediately. If a counselor is unavailable, reach out to an administrator without delay.
Beyond School’s Scope: An outside referral may be necessary when the issue is beyond the expertise of school counseling or district personnel.
For Mandated Reporters and Faculty:
Suspected Abuse or Neglect: Mandated reporters must follow legal mandates to report any suspected abuse, neglect, or active substance use to the appropriate agency.
Reporting Protocol: Follow the RMSOTA-mandated reporting protocol for these cases.
Additional Resources:
Suicide Prevention Hotline: 800-273-8255 for immediate support.
By following these guidelines, we ensure that every student receives the support and care they need to thrive at Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts.
If you do not get a confirmation from the counselor within 24 hours, please email the appropriate grade level counselor.
