About RMHS Select Choir
As the name implies, Select Choir is an auditioned group of accomplished choral musicians that performs advanced SATB divisi music. Members also perform musical theater and popular music as part of two small ensembles: Fermata Nowhere and the Crescendudes.
As a member, you will be expected to hold yourself to a high level of work ethic, skill, and independence.
Select Choir performs frequently during a typical school year, including major concerts, fundraisers, school events, and more.
Auditions for next year’s group are open to current 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students.

Sign-up in advance for a specific time slot by adding your first and last name to a time slot on this document. Please note that you will need to be logged into your Reading account to edit this document.
Current RMHS Students: there are some time slots available during the day.
To prepare for the audition
To prepare for the audition
Learn 16-32 measures from two contrasting pieces of your choice taken from classical, musical theater, or pop music that demonstrate your unique strengths as a singer (a cappella or with an accompaniment track that you supply)
Be prepared as well to do pitch matching, a range check, sing a scale, and sight-read at your audition.
Show up for your audition 5-10 minutes early

Enter Reading Memorial High School through the Performing Arts Center doors. Go down the stairs. Pass both sets of PAC double doors on your right. Enter the next set of double doors labeled Suite Rooms, Music and Drama Rooms. 238–243. Enter through both sets of double doors. Make your first left and the choir room will be immediately on your left (Room 239).
