Welcome to Phlebotomy Class!
This course is offered by Rocky Mountain Education. This is NOT an accredited National Level Certification. It is a Phlebotomy Skill Completion Course. Our Proprietary School is registered through the Idaho State Board of Education. It will be a combination of online learning (in the google classroom) and skills training (yes, actually poking people with needles in person). This training and these classes will occur over a 6 week period.
To complete the course and receive your Certification of Completion you must:
1. Complete all of the reading, practice worksheets and module quizzes online with 80% or higher.
2. Draw blood at least 25 times over the duration of the course.
3. Pass the Final Written Exam with an 80% or higher (given in person, not online).
4. Complete an unassisted venipuncture in front of an instructor on testing day.
Hello! My name is Rachel King, and I am your phlebotomy training instructor for this course. I am so excited to help you learn phlebotomy skills, become confident finding veins, and successfully draw blood. I have been drawing blood as a Nationally Certified Phlebotomy Technician for going on 13 years. I am also a Certified Medical Assistant and IV Technician. I have worked in various medical facilities including a health center, labs, and urgent care. I love the medical field! One of my favorite positions was when I worked was as a TA in the Medical Assisting Program were I helped teach procedures to students. The main procedure I enjoyed teaching was phlebotomy and IVs. While teaching, I also saw a great need for better instruction in these areas! It shocked me how little was required to get passed off. I'm excited you have chosen to take extra steps to better your skills. It will be well worth your time and effort. And I promise... your patients will appreciate it more than anyone!
