If you want a rugged, dust-proof shell to protect your existing JBL earbuds while hiking or wading through shallow water for fishing, choose RLSOCO Carrying Case; if you need a complete, open-ear wireless audio system with long battery life and secure hooks designed specifically for outdoor movement, choose HAPPYAUDIO Headphones. These two items solve entirely different problems for the angler who needs gear that survives the elements. One is a protective shield for equipment you already own, while the other is the actual audio source you wear on your head.
• RLSOCO Carrying Case: Built from high-density EVA and fiber to offer superior shock absorption and water resistance for JBL TWS models, but it is not an audio device itself.
• HAPPYAUDIO Headphones: Features Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and IPX6 water resistance with a 7-hour playtime and ergonomic hooks, but requires you to buy a separate case if you want extra protection.
• Best for: The RLSOCO pick is for the owner of compatible JBL earbuds who wants to keep their charging case safe in a tackle box or backpack. The HAPPYAUDIO pick is for the angler looking for the "best open ear earbuds for fishing" or "best bluetooth headset for fishing" without buying a separate unit.
The RLSOCO Carrying Case is a specialized accessory designed to act as a fortress for specific JBL True Wireless Stereo earbuds. If you are an avid fisherman who already owns a pair of JBL Vibe Beam, Tune 230NC, or similar models, this case is the logical next step to ensure your electronics survive a day on the boat. This combination is critical for outdoor environments where moisture, dust, and accidental drops are common. The case is explicitly rated as water-resistant and scratch-resistant, making it ideal for stowing away wet gear after a splash or sliding into a muddy pocket.
What makes this product stand out is its focus on durability and material safety. Unlike generic storage pouches that might degrade quickly, this unit uses eco-friendly materials certified by RoHS and SGS standards. The internal compartments are designed with a higher-grade thickness of EVA, ensuring the structure does not deform easily over time. This rigidity is essential when you are tossing your gear into a backpack alongside heavy lures, pliers, or bait buckets. It provides a "strong home" that protects against knocks, shocks, and scratches, keeping your expensive earbuds safe from the rough-and-tumble reality of a fishing trip.

However, this product is not for everyone. It is strictly a case; the listing clearly states that the earbuds, cables, and eartips are not included. You cannot use this to listen to music unless you already possess one of the seven compatible JBL models listed in the specifications. If you do not own a JBL Tune or Vibe series device, this item is useless to you. Furthermore, while it offers water resistance, it is not a waterproof submersion unit like a hard dive box, though it is sufficient for rain and splashes. It is also compact enough to fit into purses, pockets, and handbags, which means it is perfect for daily carry but lacks the massive capacity needed for storing multiple accessories beyond the charging case and earbuds themselves.
The HAPPYAUDIO Headphones represent a complete audio solution tailored for active users, particularly those who need reliable sound without the hassle of tangled wires. Designed with a sporty theme and Bluetooth 5.3 technology, these earbuds are built to stay connected even in windy conditions near the water. The specification sheet highlights a frequency range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz and a 10-millimeter dynamic driver, suggesting a clear audio profile capable of handling the nuances of nature sounds or podcast commentary while you cast. The inclusion of Voice ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) technology helps filter out unwanted background noise, allowing you to hear calls or instructions clearly even when the wind is blowing off the lake.
Comfort and fit are central to the design of the HAPPYAUDIO S3 model. The earpiece shape features hooks that sit behind the ear, creating a discreet, low-profile look that stays secure during vigorous movement. Whether you are reeling in a catch or walking along a rocky shore, the soft-touch materials and ergonomic design ensure all-day comfort without falling out. The IPX6 rating indicates a high level of water resistance, protecting the internal electronics from sweat and rain, which is a non-negotiable feature for anyone seeking the "best on ear headphones for fishing." With a battery average life of 7 hours per charge and an additional 16 hours provided by the carrying case, you have ample power to last a full day on the water without worrying about running out of juice mid-trip.
This product is best suited for someone who wants an all-in-one purchase rather than buying a case separately. The unit comes with Lithium Polymer batteries included and supports both touch and voice controls, making operation simple even when wearing gloves. The USB connectivity allows for quick recharging, with the earbuds taking just 1.5 hours to reach full power. However, potential buyers should note that the enclosure material is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) and Polycarbonate (PC), which are standard plastics. While durable, they do not offer the same shock-absorbing properties as the thick EVA found in the RLSOCO case. If you drop these on concrete, they will likely suffer damage more easily than a protected JBL unit inside a hard shell. Additionally, while they feature noise reduction, they do not offer active noise cancellation (ANC) in the traditional sense of blocking all external sound, which might be a trade-off for those seeking total silence.
• Best for battery longevity → HAPPYAUDIO Headphones, offering 7 hours of direct play plus 16 hours from the case, whereas the RLSOCO case has no battery as it is purely protective.
• Best for water protection → RLSOCO Carrying Case uses high-density EVA to shield against water and dust, while HAPPYAUDIO relies on an IPX6 rating which resists splashes but is less robust against submersion or impact.
• Best for immediate audio use → HAPPYAUDIO Headphones, as they are a functional device ready to pair via Bluetooth 5.3, while the RLSOCO case is empty and requires you to own compatible JBL earbuds first.
• Best for rugged impact resistance → RLSOCO Carrying Case, designed specifically to prevent deformation and absorb shocks, whereas the HAPPYAUDIO case is made of standard plastic ABS/PC.
• Best for secure fit during activity → HAPPYAUDIO Headphones, featuring behind-the-ear hooks and ergonomic design, while the RLSOCO case has no wearing mechanism.
• Best for multi-device compatibility → RLSOCO Carrying Case supports seven different JBL models, whereas HAPPYAUDIO is a standalone unit with no cross-compatibility for other brands' cases.
• Best for eco-conscious manufacturing → RLSOCO Carrying Case, with certifications for eco-friendly materials and a two-year warranty, compared to the standard plastic construction of the HAPPYAUDIO packaging.
• Best for simplicity of setup → HAPPYAUDIO Headphones, requiring only a charge and pairing, while the RLSOCO case requires you to verify your specific JBL model number matches the compatibility list.
I would choose the HAPPYAUDIO Headphones if my goal was to get a reliable audio experience for fishing immediately. The combination of Bluetooth 5.3, secure ear hooks, and substantial battery life makes it the superior choice for the angler who needs to hear their surroundings while enjoying music or podcasts. It addresses the core need for a "best bluetooth headset for fishing" by providing the sound source directly. However, if I already owned a set of JBL earbuds and wanted to ensure they survived the harsh conditions of a boat deck, I would opt for the RLSOCO Carrying Case. It offers a level of physical protection that the standard plastic case of the HAPPYAUDIO headphones simply cannot match. Ultimately, the HAPPYAUDIO unit is the primary tool for listening, while the RLSOCO case is the secondary shield for protecting existing gear.
