USMC Ret. MSgt. Rodney Lee Buentello was born June 27, 1973 and passed away on June 8, 2016. Buentello was a two-time Purple Heart recipient who survived four combat tours. He was a John Jay High School Alumni, who after retirement from the Marine Corps took a job as the ISS Instructional Assistant, and volunteer coach for football and track teams at Jay. In a courageous act of bravery Buentello lost his life saving the lives of two teens. Proceeds go to scholarships for John Jay High School Students.
