1. Introduction
Rizuma Labs built Call Guard - Spam Blocker ("the App") as a privacy-first utility application designed to protect users from spam calls and unwanted SMS notifications. We believe that personal privacy is a fundamental human right.
This Privacy Policy explains how our App handles user information, the specific Android permissions required for its operation, and our strict commitment to zero cloud data collection.
---
2. Zero Remote Data Collection (Offline-First Architecture)
We do NOT collect, upload, store, sell, or transmit any of your personal data, phone contacts, call logs, or SMS messages to external servers or third parties.
All detection, filtering, blocking, and rule management happen 100% locally on your device. The App does not operate an external cloud database and does not track your identity or browsing habits.
---
3. Permissions Used and How They Are Handled
a. Read Contacts (android.permission.READ_CONTACTS)
• Purpose: Used strictly on-device to determine whether an incoming caller or message sender is already saved in your personal contact address book.
• Privacy Safeguard: This permission is only used when the "Block Unknown Numbers" or "Emergency Mode" feature is active. Your contacts are never uploaded, backed up to external servers, shared, or indexed. All comparisons occur in device volatile memory.
b. Call Screening Service (android.permission.BIND_SCREENING_SERVICE)
• Purpose: Enables the official Android Telecom CallScreeningService API to intercept unwanted incoming calls (e.g., specific area codes, suspicious prefixes, or user-defined blacklists) and automatically reject or silence them before your phone rings.
• Privacy Safeguard: The App never listens to, monitors, or records your voice conversations. It only checks the incoming phone number against your locally stored rules.
c. Notification Listener Service (android.permission.BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE)
• Purpose: Enables the App to inspect incoming SMS notification headers and text locally to identify spam and phishing keywords (such as fraudulent lottery wins, illegal loan offers, or gambling promotions) and silently mute the notification.
• Privacy Safeguard: The App does not alter, delete, or upload your messages. Your SMS inbox remains completely private and stored securely by your system's default messaging app.
d. Post Notifications (android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
• Purpose: Allows Call Guard to post an optional, silent notification when an incoming spam call or message has been intercepted. You can disable this notification at any time in the App Settings.
e. In-App Purchases & Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING)
• Purpose: Used to process one-time premium purchases (Call Guard PRO Lifetime) via the Google Play In-App Billing system.
• Privacy Safeguard: All financial transactions are securely processed directly by Google Play. We never collect, see, or store your credit card numbers, bank credentials, or billing addresses.
---
4. Local Data Storage & Backup
All user-defined rules (blacklists, whitelists, custom keywords, blocked prefix filters, and blocked event counters) are stored exclusively in your device's private local storage. When you use the Backup & Restore feature, the exported .db file is saved directly to your device's local folder. We have no access to your backup files.
---
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Because all data is stored exclusively on your device:
• You have complete ownership and control over your data at all times.
• You can clear your blocked logs or rule lists anytime within the App settings.
• Uninstalling Call Guard from your device immediately and permanently erases all local application data, configurations, and logs.
---
6. Children's Privacy
Call Guard does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13. The App adheres to Google Play's Families Policy and global child privacy regulations.
