The Riverview Theater app ("the app," "we," "us") shows showtimes and movie information for the Riverview Theater on Android and iOS. This policy explains the limited, anonymous information the app collects and how it is handled.
The app has no accounts and no login, and does not ask for your name, email, or any personal details.
In short: the app collects only anonymous usage data — which screens and features you use — through Google Firebase Analytics, so we can understand how the app is used. We do not collect your name, email, or account (there is no login), do not use any advertising identifier, do not track you across other apps or websites, and do not sell or share your data. The data is automatically deleted after 14 months, and uninstalling the app stops all collection. The sections below give the full detail.
Through Google Firebase Analytics, the app collects anonymous, aggregated usage information so we can understand whether and how the app is used:
How you use the app — which screens you view and which in-app features you tap — so we can understand which parts of the app are used.
Session activity — when the app is opened, how long sessions last, and the first open after installing.
Basic technical and device information — such as app version, device type, operating-system version, and language.
Install source — where available from the app store, the link or campaign that led you to install the app.
A random, app-generated identifier (the Firebase "app-instance ID") used only to group these events into anonymous sessions. It is not your name, email, account, or device advertising ID, and it resets if you clear the app's data or reinstall.
The app does not access your device's location. As part of providing analytics, Google may infer an approximate region (such as your country) from your device's IP address; this is handled by Google and is not collected or stored by the app as location data.
No identity — no name, email, account, or contact information (the app has no login).
No advertising or device identifiers — the Android Advertising ID, Apple IDFA, Apple IDFV, and Android device ID are all explicitly disabled.
No precise location (no GPS).
No cross-app or cross-website tracking, no advertising, and no sale or sharing of your data for marketing. Ad-personalization signals are turned off.
Only to understand whether and how the app is used — which features matter and whether people return — so we can maintain and improve it. That's the entire purpose.
Google (Firebase / Google Analytics) processes this data on our behalf, as our service provider, under Google's terms — not as an independent third party using it for its own purposes. We have configured the service to disable ad personalization and data sharing with other Google products. For more on how Google handles data, see Google's Privacy Policy and how Firebase uses data.
To show you showtimes, posters, ratings, and related information, the app retrieves content from a few outside services: the Riverview Theater's website (showtimes and film details), an image host (Amazon S3, which serves the movie posters), and a movie information service (OMDb — omdbapi.com) for the IMDb, Metacritic, and Rotten Tomatoes scores — and other film details such as runtime and cast — shown on a film's page. The app also opens links you tap — to buy tickets, get directions, call or email the theater, or visit its website — in your browser or the relevant app.
To deliver their content, these services necessarily receive routine technical request information such as your device's IP address. The app does not send them your name, email, or any personal information about you (it has none), and does not use them to track you across apps or websites.
On Android, the app also uses Google Play's standard in-app update service to check for and install app updates. This is handled by Google Play under Google's terms and transmits no personal information about you.
Event-level analytics data is automatically deleted after 14 months. Aggregated, de-identified reports may be retained beyond that.
Because this data is anonymous and not linked to your identity, it cannot be tied back to you as an individual.
Uninstalling the app stops all further collection.
Clearing the app's data or reinstalling resets the random app-instance identifier.
The data is retained only for the limited period above and is then deleted automatically.
If you live in a region with applicable privacy laws (such as the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access or delete personal data we hold about you. Because the app collects no information that identifies you, we generally hold nothing tied to your identity — but you are welcome to contact us with any question or request.
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. (It collects only anonymous usage analytics, with no personal data from any user.)
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
