Do you need a food handler permit to volunteer?
No, a food handlers permit is not required to volunteer with us. However, if you'd like to get one a ServSafe food handlers permit is only $10.
What do I need to bring to the cooks?
We require that each person brings their own mask. Sometimes we have extras, but not always. A mask is required around food prep, cook packaging areas.
Where do you get your food?
We get our food donated from the local community or donated funds that we use to purchase food. People drop off produce, bread, non-perishables and other food items on our collection days. We also arrange for food pickups at local farmers markets and community farms.
If you'd like to donate food we have collection days on the 1st Saturday of every month at the Universalist Unitarian Church.
Do you accept meat, dairy or eggs?
No, we do not accept meat, dairy or eggs. We only cook vegan meals to ensure that we can feed as many people as possible since everyone can eat vegan, but not everyone can eat meat.
You do not have to be vegan to volunteer with us and we're a great place to learn about and cook simple vegan meals.
Where can I drop off donations?
We have collection days on the 1st Saturday of every month from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at the Universalist Unitarian Church or you can catch us at Fairmount Park every 2nd Saturday of the month.
