July 21st, 2025: Dr. Rivera-Correa published a co-authored original peer-reviewed research article on PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases titled: "Thrombocytopenia in patients with Plasmodium vivax in Colombia is associated with anti-phosphatidylserine autoantibodies and IL-6, IFNγ, IL-10 and TGF-β" with colleagues from Montería, Colombia🇨🇴. May 13th, 2025: Dr. Rivera-Correa published a senior correspondent-authored editorial in the mBio journal titled "Common challenges faced by early-career researchers in Latin American and small U.S. universities" with colleagues from Argentina and Paraguay! 🇦🇷🇵🇾🇵🇷! May 3rd, 2025: Dr. Rivera-Correa presented a poster presentation and 5-minute oral pitch at the 2025 New England Association of Parasitologists (NEAP) at Lehman College in the Bronx, NY.
February 4th, 2025: Dr. Rivera-Correa published a first-authored research article in the Journal of Clinical Investigations (JCI) Insight titled "ROCK1 promotes B-cell differentiation and proteostasis under stress through the heme-regulated proteins, BACH2 and HRI". January 10th, 2025: Dr. Rivera-Correa published a senior correspondent-authored research article in Veterinary Parasitology titled "Autoantibodies against phosphatidylserine and DNA during canine Dirofilaria immitis infection" with Costa Rican collaborators Dr. Montenegro and Dr. Rojas. December 19th, 2024: Two BIO4910/20 BiB internship students (Sanobar Mardonova and Shannon Sims) presented their final internship projects (Poster) at the BiB Final presentations in front of students and faculty. Congrats!
November 14th, 2024: Dr. Rivera-Correa presented at mBio’s combined board meeting: “Challenges early career researchers face in Spanish-speaking countries".
May 8th and 16th, 2024: Undergraduate research students Akash Sm Arifuzzaman and Efia Appiasam presented their Spring 2024 research work on the Emerging Scholars and the BiB Internship Final Poster presentations respectively. Congrats on your great work!
May 6th, 2024: Prof Rivera-Correa won a Grant award for the 21st Annual Poster Session and was honored at City Tech’s “Scholarship on Campus” event.
April 19th, 2024: International Webinar Talk for the IX Chagas and Malaria Disease Symposium for the Colombian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine on 04/19/24 with +300 attendees:
Rivera-Correa, Juan (2024, Apr 19) "La autoinmunidad durante enfermedades infecciosas tropicales" (Autoimmunity during tropical infectious diseases).
Prof. Rivera-Correa was accepted to the NIH- Early Career Reviewer (ECR) Program for the Hypersensitivity, Autoimmune, and Immune-mediated [HAI] Diseases Study Section.
Prof. Rivera-Correa got selected (out of more than 500 applicants!) to serve on mBio’s 2024-2025 Early-Career Editorial Board (ECB; formerly known as the Junior Editorial Board)
