I’m Javad Souri, currently pursuing my PhD in the Civil Engineering program of North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, under the supervision of Dr. Trung Le. I had my undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Razi University, Iran. I got my master's degree in Water Engineering and Hydraulic Structures from Tarbiat Modares University, Iran. My fascination with flowing water began as a child, watching rivers carve their way through landscapes. Over time, this curiosity turned into a focused academic pursuit — exploring the turbulence below the surface and the unseen forces that shape our natural world.
My research isn’t just about equations and models — it’s about understanding the sources of changes in a river' reach (why it meanders), and how we can work with a meandering river rather than against it. I'm passionate about bridging fieldwork, analytical solutions, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Besides research, I find meaning in mentoring others, documenting my field experiences, and turning complex hydraulic phenomena into hands-on tutorials. I believe science should be both rigorous and approachable — that’s the spirit behind this website. River Ice Lab is where I share my journey — from research papers and project insights to field photos and step-by-step tutorials. Whether you're a fellow researcher, student, or just curious, I hope you find something here that flows with your own interests.
