Ritual Beast is an extremely fun and rewarding deck to play. That being said its complexity makes it almost impossible for a novice a player to pilot. I believe this high barrier to entry is one of the main reasons for its relatively small player base. The goal of this is page is to compile as much information as I can into one place. Thus making the transition between novice to master as painless as possible. So if you personally or someone you know has been overwhelmed by the learning curve of Ritual Beast, look no further. With the help of this page in tangent with other resources, you will be Canna-looping your opponent for a game in no time.
I could barrage you with a list of complex combos and theory related card choices - however, let us start with a basic overview of the deck. This section will be exclusively for players new to the deck, but don't let that deter you from reading.
If you haven't noticed by now the Ritual Beast monsters are split into two sections: Ritual Beast Tamers, and Spiritual Beasts. Unlike typical fusion decks, Ritual Beast is based on something referred to as a contact fusion summon. This happens when a fusion monster lists a specific way that it must be summoned instead of just fusion materials. To summon all of the Ritual Beast fusions besides Ritual Beast Ulti-Gaiapelio you must banish one Ritual Beast Tamer and one Spiritual Beast monster from your side of the field. Though referred to as a contact fusion summon it is actually not considered a fusion summon. It is simply special summoning a fusion monster from your extra deck, this can be helpful or hurtful depending on the situation.
Ritual Beast Ulti-Cannahawk is one of the strongest cards in the deck. This can't be overstated, but knowing how to properly use its effect is key when optimizing your play. One of the key things we need to note about Ritual Beast Ulti-Cannahawk is that its effect to search only requires one of the two cards selected to be returned to the graveyard for it to resolve. This means that when attempting to return a banished Ritual Beast Tamer Elder and Ritual Beast Steeds, you could then chain Ritual Beast Ulti-Cannahawk's secondary effect to special summon your previously selected Ritual Beast Tamer Elder as well as a banished Spiritual Beast Apelio. When resolving only the Ritual Beast Steeds will be returned to the graveyard as the other target is no longer banished. This has no impact on its resolution and you will still be granted your search.
All main deck Ritual Beast monsters are limited in the fact they can only be special summoned once per turn. This typically calls for some form of an additional normal summon to start a combo tree. Typically Ritual Beast Tamer Elder acts as this starter card; however, it's still good to know how additional normal summons work in Yu-Gi-Oh. While a player is typically allotted only one normal summon per turn there are many cards that increase that number. These cards are broken into 3 sections: cards that set a new limit on normal summons (ex. Double Summon), cards that allow multiple normal summons (ex. Ritual Beast Tamer Elder), and cards that on resolution preform a normal summon (ex. Ritual Beast Ulti-Kimunfalcos). The main thing we need to understand about these sub types is how they interact with each other. Cards that set a new limit on normal summons in a turn do not stack with each other, and when two are activate the one with the highest number is applied. Cards that allow multiple normal summons will stack with cards that increase the normal summon limit, but WILL NOT stack with each other. Lastly, cards that on resolution preform a normal summon can be stacked with each other as well as all previously mentioned types.
