About me

I have been working as an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum since 2015. I was recently awarded the CDS Prize for the best performing Assistant Professor in terms of publications (for the biennium 2019-2021) by Prof Kaushik Basu.

One of my papers, "Effect of COVID-19 lockdown on the profitability of firms in India" (coauthored with Dr. Rajnish Kumar) was selected for the Best Paper award at the SEBI-NISM Research Conference on Behaviour of Securities Market-Sighting of Black Swan-2021.

I also work as an adjunct faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management (Kozhikode) since 2019 and at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (Trivandrum) since 2023.

I have completed my PhD in Development Studies from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai in 2016. My PhD dissertation dealt with the political and economic interactions of disinvestment policy in India. Using both theoretical and empirical tools, I examined the determinants of disinvestment policy and its effect on state owned enterprises in India.

Before my PhD, I have also worked as a business analyst in Genpact, Bangalore (2009-2010).

I completed my MSc in Economics (2009) from IGIDR, Mumbai and my BSc in Economics (2007) from Calcutta University.
