Risk Analytics Lab.

The Risk Analytics Lab, led by Dr. Dowon Kim in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Pusan National University, develops advanced computational models for complex, high-stakes decision-making. We focus on quantifying the value of critical elements across various sectors, including energy systems, port logistics, transportation, and manufacturing. Central to our research is the concept of "pricing"—a rigorous framework to assign precise value to system uncertainties.

Our core expertise lies in stochastic modeling. While deterministic models provide essential building blocks, our mission is to bridge the gap between elegant theory and practical reality. We actively embrace the unstructured and highly volatile challenges of the industrial world. By mathematically capturing and resolving real-world noise, we translate rigorous academic research into robust solutions that perform reliably where traditional, static models fall short.

Through this uncertainty-aware approach, we aim to catalyze true AI Transformation (AX) for enterprises and public institutions. Rather than superficial AI adoption, we deliver mathematically grounded, high-reliability decision-support frameworks. By aligning advanced probabilistic algorithms with practical industry demands, we empower organizations to confidently integrate AI into their core operations and navigate complex operational environments.

Our methodological approach is deeply rooted in stochastic operations research, integrating probabilistic optimization algorithms, advanced heuristics, and scientific machine learning.
