New Federal Reserve data shows that more large and middle-market companies are seeking business credit, even though banks have not broadly relaxed the standards used to approve borrowers.
The July 2026 Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey found stronger demand for commercial and industrial loans among large and middle-market companies during the second quarter. Demand among small businesses remained generally unchanged.
Banks reported that their fundamental credit standards for commercial and industrial loans also remained basically unchanged. Although some lending terms improved—including narrower loan spreads and greater credit-line availability for certain borrowers—companies must still satisfy established underwriting requirements.
For business owners, the distinction is important: more demand for capital does not necessarily mean easier access to capital.
Financial institutions continue to examine cash flow, leverage, liquidity, collateral, industry conditions and management experience when reviewing a financing request.
A profitable company can still encounter obstacles when:
Its cash flow is inconsistent
Existing debt is already substantial
Available collateral is limited
The proposed use of funds falls outside bank policy
The transaction requires a rapid closing
The requested amount exceeds what the bank is prepared to provide
A lender may approve the borrower while offering less capital than requested or imposing conditions that do not fully address the company’s needs.
As financing demand increases, lenders have more transactions from which to choose. Companies with organized financial information and clearly defined capital requirements are generally easier to evaluate than borrowers entering the market with incomplete documentation or an uncertain use of proceeds.
Before approaching a funding source, a business should be prepared to provide current financial statements, interim results, recent bank statements, an existing debt schedule and a clear explanation of how the requested capital will be deployed.
The company should also be able to demonstrate how cash flow will support repayment and how the financing will strengthen operations.
Traditional bank credit remains appropriate for many established businesses. Other companies may require a different structure because of timing, collateral, transaction complexity or the intended use of the proceeds.
Potential business financing options can include:
Asset-based credit facilities
Equipment financing
Revenue-based financing
Accounts-receivable financing
Acquisition financing
Bridge capital
Senior secured term loans
Companies seeking between $250,000 and $5 million can also review Fasty Funding’s structured business capital program, which supports qualified growth, acquisition, recapitalization, equipment and liquidity requirements.
The appropriate solution depends on the company’s financial profile, timing and objectives. The lowest quoted rate is not always the most useful financing if the structure provides inadequate proceeds or creates an unsustainable repayment obligation.
Fasty Funding provides nationwide working capital and business financing for established operators.
When a transaction requires advanced structuring, commercial real estate financing or transaction-level advisory, it may be coordinated with Fast Commercial Capital.
Business acquisitions, ownership transitions and exit-planning engagements can also involve Alianza Partners.
Real estate investors and operators can access specialized property-financing resources through America’s Loan Source and its online resource platform.
These specialized brands operate within the broader Medro Advisors capital and transaction advisory ecosystem.
The Federal Reserve’s latest survey confirms that capital remains available, but companies should approach the market with realistic expectations.
Business owners should define the financing need, organize their documentation and evaluate the full range of available structures before accepting a proposal. Identifying possible underwriting issues early can help prevent delays, reduced proceeds or an incomplete financing solution.
