At our lab, we currently use ultrasound-imaging in conjunction with other techniques such as surface electromyography to sense muscle contractions and to control multi-articulated prosthetic hands. To learn more, please refer to our publications here.
This project will be supported by an upcoming Core Research Grant from the Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
We are interested in understanding the role of integrating haptic feedback to improve prosthetic usability. Together with Helge Wurdemann at University College London we are investigating how low cost mechanotactile sensing can be combined with novel prosthetic control strategies to enhance functional outcomes of modern biomechatronic devices.
This project is supported in part by the UCL-IITD Strategic Partnership MFIRP grant from Industrial Research and Development Unit, IIT Delhi.
The third area of our research interest deals with objectively quantifying motor skills and rehabilitation in individuals with disabilities. We are developing a smart glove instrumented with a novel capacitive sensing system capable of sensing fine movements and object interactions. We envision that this device will enable quantitative analysis of the movement quality for individuals with paresis.
We are also investigating how ultrasound imaging devices can be transformed for wearable applications. We are developing low-cost, low-power ultrasound imaging solutions by combining novel ultrasound sensing materials, instrumentation and signal processing techniques. We are collaborating with Ankesh Jain from IIT Delhi to develop specialized system-on-chip solutions for next generation wearable ultrasound applications.
This project is supported in part by a FIRP grant from Industrial Research and Development Unit, IIT Delhi and by a Faculty Startup Grant from IIT Delhi.
