Rise! Mural is a collaborative community mosaic that celebrates Black Lives, Dreams, Families, Struggles, History and Hope. We are living in a momumental time. The murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arberry and countless African Americans killed by police brutality and white supremacists have inspired millions all around the globe to protest and have a conversation about racism in America. This project is inspired by the movement and the brave souls who fuel it.

Mosaic work involves assembling thousands of broken pieces of tile, glass, stone, shells and smalti to create one large collaborative work. Rise! Mosaic Mural was created by fourteen artists and their families, in their own homes. In order to facilitate the project while social distancing, we took measures to protect all artists by avoiding large gatherings in the creation of the mural. Sections of the mural were divided among artists and their families, and all supplies were delivered to the artists.
