The apron I wear was a gift from my wedding, my wife has a matching white apron. We got married at our church in Highlands Ranch CO, on January 11 2025
My name is Simon Still, I grew up in Kent, Washington, in a family where food was a love language. Some of my best childhood memories revolve around the big family meals that my grandpa would make. It was his way of showing love, just like his parents and grandparents before him. My mom shares that same passion for cooking, you could always count on a table full of sweet treats and comforting meals. It’s safe to say that environment sparked my own love of food from an early age.
Although I’ve always appreciated good food, it wasn’t until I joined the Marine Corps in 2019 that I discovered my true passion for cooking for others. Preparing meals and baking for my fellow Marines became my way of bringing a sense of home to those far from it. The joy it brought me, seeing people comforted by a home-cooked dish, was unmatched.
That experience inspired me to create this micro bakery. I wanted to share that same feeling of warmth and comfort with others through handcrafted, delicious treats. Rise 60:1 is named after Isaiah 60:1: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.” We are called to come out of the darkness, to become beacons of hope and to make our lives reflect the glory of God. My mission is to bring a little light to our customers, and our community, through the best way I know how. Food.
Thank you for supporting this journey. I invite you to follow along and share in the joy! #Rise601
