Randomness, Integrability and Representation Theory in Quantum Field Theory 2021
@ Media Center, Osaka City U.
We will have an international workshop "Randomness, Integrability and Representation Theory in Quantum Field Theory 2021" at Nambu Yoichiro Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics (NITEP), Osaka City University, cosponsored with Osaka City University Advanced Mathematical Institute (OCAMI).
The workshop focuses on the following three topics:
Randomness in quantum gravity and matrix model
Integrability in quantum field theories
Representation theory in quantum field theories
These have been hot topics for several years in theoretical physics and in mathematics.
Randomness is everywhere in physics: 2d quantum gravity, random matrix model, tensor model, string theory, and so on. The emergence of randomness is therefore a common feature in these theories, and a key to understand the physics.
In quantum field theory, especially in supersymmetric theories, integrability appears quite frequently. The powerful advantage of integrable systems helps to understand the non-perturbative physics of quantum field theories.
The representation theory of the symmetry groups (or associated algebras) of quantum field theories which is directly connected to the spectra of the theories has been another hot topic in relation with developments in mathematics.
The workshop discusses these recent developments, aiming to promote the discussions among physicists and mathematicians. Each day of the workshop we will have talks by the invited researchers from the both sides on each topic. We will have further slots for short talks connected to each topics, to encourage the further activities.
