I'm 19 years old and I'm currently working on majoring in math and science to become a marine biologist. I chose to take Oceanography in particular, because I am a huge nature lover. I love all things nature, from environmental to marine life! I have always had a rough time with science growing up, so this class is an amazing challenge for my education and future. I grew up in the High Desert all my life, that being said I have not explored the ocean at all but its been a dream of mine for a while ! I find myself admiring every part of our planet, and the ocean has always intrigued me. How vast and unexplored it remains, I'd love to experience and learn everything that it includes.

Although one of my passions is marine biology and school, I also have a lot of passions outside of the classroom. I am artist who specializes in acrylic painting, clay sculpturing. knitting, murals, embroidery and clothes design. I enjoy reading and writing. I tend to spend a lot of time outside and meditating. I love to be connected and grounded within myself and the world around me! My favorite activity to do in nature is admire it! I walk to a park, sit under the shade of a big tree, pull out my sketchbook and pay close attention to every detail in the trees and plants as I'm recreating them onto paper. It's a way for me to really cherish and be grateful for everything around me. Outside of the classroom I love to spend time with my family and pets. I have a dog named Ruka and a kitten named Marceline. I also enjoying using my free time to learn random stuff! I like watching videos and lectures on many different topics ranging from math and science to psychology and behavioral patterns. Learning expands my knowledge and understanding of many different aspects of life.

Goals for this class in particular:

~Work on my communications skills; I'd like to get more comfortable presenting in front of the class as well as discussing with other classmates.

~ Learning; I'd like to learn more about the science behind the ocean and be able to know fun facts about oceanography.

~Attendance; I'd like to show up to class at least above 95% of the time Take care of what's needed to get me to class every time.

~ Grade; Although the grading system isn't used throughout the semester, I'd still like to get an A or A+ at the end of the semester.

Goals for this semester in general:

~ Attendance; I'd like to show up and make it to every single one of my classes above 95% of the time.

~ Grades; I'd like to pass all my classes with above a B, preferably with an A or A+

~ Motivation; I'd like to maintain my motivation throughout the semester and as well ass keep the motivation for next semester.

Student learning outcome:

A student learning outcome that I would like to focus on more this semester would be physical properties and marine life. Those are the ones that intrigue me the most, although I am not knowledge in any of the student learning outcomes so I'd love to learn about them all.
