Volunteer!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the RINGs Network time bank project!

Volunteering with us could take as little as an hour a week. In return, you get a front-row seat to something that actually works— a community where people show up for each other. You'll build real relationships, develop skills, and help grow something that matters.

Our "villagers" are the volunteers who keep this project running!  Thank you for being a villager!  :)   Most people are sitting on their hands, just wishing someone would do something... but you are here, actually doing something!  The time bank runs on people like you.  We are so excited to welcome you to the team!

To volunteer with us, please commit to four things:

1. Be familiar with the time bank exchange. You can’t help other people use it, if you don’t use it yourself!  Note: If you live in an area where we have not yet launched an exchange, due to not having enough people, you can still volunteer!  Let us know if this is the case for you, and we will figure out how to accommodate you.

2. Attend regular team meetings.  Most teams meet once per month.  See the schedule below.  During the meeting, Coordinators will update everyone on the status of various projects, make sure everyone is on the same page, and assign tasks.  Try to attend all meetings for the team you join. 

3. Complete your assigned tasks between meetings. We ask that you follow through on your commitments assigned at the meetings. Showing up is only half of it; the work gets done in between. Life happens, and we get that. But if you find yourself consistently unable to keep up, talk to your coordinator. We'd rather find you a better-fitting role than lose you altogether.

4. Communicate responsibly.  Team members rely on each other, so prompt communication is crucial.  

Volunteering can take as little as an hour per week, or you can donate more time if you wish!  When you sign up, let us know how involved you want to be. Coordinators will try to give you tasks that match your interests and availability.

If you live outside of Iowa, and you'd like to volunteer to launch a time bank in your area, fill out the form, and we'll contact you with next steps!

Soon to come:  Technology Team

We are not yet ready to launch our technology team, but we hope to do so in a few months.  If you know you want to help in that area, please fill out the interest form.  Eventually we will need: 

• Backend developer— We plan to transition our website onto dedicated servers. Help code and manage this project. 

• Front end developer— Help us write the HTML and CSS for the next version of our website.

• Maybe... Plug-in developers for the app, website, mailer software, and other tools. (This may be needed as we grow, but we are not there yet.)
