Uni-Sing! is our weekly on-line hymn singing.

We meet every Saturday afternoon at 3.00p.m. using Zoom

Here is how each session runs:

  • Zoom room open 15 minutes before the start so that if people wish to they can chat;

  • Volunteers take it in turns to do an opening reading;

  • Warm-ups – body, breath and voice;

  • We sing five hymns (singers on mute with one musician, usually a keyboard player, who sings the first verse as well as playing). Each hymn is introduced with maybe something about the composer or the lyricist or the hymn itself.

  • We have randomly allocated break-out rooms of three or four people, lasting about 15 minutes, with a topic to discuss related to the hymns we have sung, if people want to. It's a nice way to meet people if you are new;

  • Returning to the main group we sing five more hymns – we usually have a different musician for the second half. Again each hymn is introduced and the musician may provide additional information about the hymns;

  • Closing words are read by the person who did the opening words; and

  • We unmute and say our goodbyes.

Alongside of this we have

Most people have hymn books but we do provide electronic versions for those who don’t and occasionally share the screen if we add verses or change the words. Details of these will be found in the weekly newsletter. We have used hymn recordings on occasion.
