Kristin Bertsch, Ph.D earned her Bachelor's Degree from Siena College, her Master's Degree in Counseling from Arcadia University, her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Lehigh University, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Dr. Bertsch is currently an Assistant Professor at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine. In this role, she is the Course Director of the 3 year longitudinal Community Service Learning & Leadership Course. The goal of this longitudinal course is to expose medical students to the impact primary care physicians should have in the delivery of comprehensive, continuous, community-oriented care for individuals in medically underserved areas of New Jersey. Dr. Bertsch is also the NJ Area Health and Education Center Program Director where she oversees Program Deliverables for the AHEC Grant. She also provides individual psychotherapy services at RowanSOM's Mt. Laurel Family Medicine Clinic.

Prior to this position she served as the Coordinator for Diversity, Inclusion, and Outreach Programming at Drexel University’s Counseling & Health Department. She has experience in a variety of settings including college counseling centers, inpatient hospitals and outpatient therapy clinics. Within her professional community she is a recognized resource for working with those with multiple intersecting minoritized identities. She has taught at the graduate level, presented at numerous national conferences, and is a published author in her respective field. Her research and training interests include implicit bias and how this contributes to disparities in health care as well has intersection forms of discrimination (racism, sexism, and heterosexism impact healthcare outcomes). Her clinical interests include working with clients around life transitions, chronic illness, family relationships, LGBT identity, the intersection of identities (e.g., race, gender, sexual orientation).

On a personal note, Dr. Bertsch believes in a strong work/life balance and when she is not working she enjoys spending time with her partner and their 5 cats, and her friends and family. While originally being from New York, Dr. Bertsch values making time to visit her parents and their dog. Cooking can be meditative for her and she loves outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and nice long bike rides.
