A New Jersey native, and Rutgers Pharmacy School graduate, Dr. Thomas began his career as an intrathecal infusion pain management specialist and high-risk sterile compounder. Seeking further clinical training, he completed an ASHP-Accredited Pharmacy Hospital Practice Residency at Sioux San PHS Indian Hospital (now, Oyate Health Center), obtaining a commission as an officer in the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service, serving under the US Surgeon General. Through his patient care experiences, Brian has had the opportunity to train and practice with various different professionals from all different backgrounds in various states like Nebraska, Arizona, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Oklahoma. Later in his role as a Commissioned Officer, Brian was detailed to the US Food and Drug Administration as a Regulatory Management Officerwhere he worked with health and legal experts to protect our nation’s youth from the harmful effects of tobacco products through effective enforcement of the Tobacco Control Act. He received several awards for his service in two hurricane response deployments, also earning his Field Medical Readiness Badge, as well as for his service in significantly expanding access to flu immunizations throughout the FDA workforce. As part of the Office of Compliance and Enforcement team at the Center for Tobacco Products, he received the Secretary’s Award for Meritorious Service in 2019 for working to decrease and prevent youth-directed advertising and sales of flavored vape products. In July 2019, he returned to the classroom to continue his medical training at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, but when he’s not enjoying a date night with his wife, Arielle, or studying for boards, you can still sometimes catch him at ShopRite Pharmacies in the area, behind the counter or in the aisles, keeping up his connection to pharmacy and patients in the community.
