This section of my website focuses on two key areas where I experienced significant growth and found great enjoyment during my Master of Arts in Education (MAED) program. The first area looks at data analysis and research, where I grew my skills in interpreting and utilizing data effectively. The second area centers on creativity, which allowed me to explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Together, these elements have enriched my educational journey and professional development.
In the MAED program, data collection and research played a pivotal role in informing our projects. Both students and teachers engaged in this process, employing a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods. This dual approach allowed us to gather comprehensive insights, enhancing the effectiveness of our programs and ensuring that our educational strategies are grounded in solid evidence.
This project created for one of my courses provided me with the opportunity to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment for the elementary school where I am currently employed. I gathered valuable data from my colleagues, which I subsequently analyzed to develop a tailored professional development program. This program demonstrates my ability to present to others in my field as well my school, enhancing our ability to address identified needs effectively as a title 1 school with increased behavioral problems.
This project created for one of my courses provided me with the opportunity to conduct a Literacy Dig for one of my classes. I gathered information from around my community about literacy. When looking for data I was able to see how people may use other resources to understand the world and how someone would navigate without being able to read.
The Teacher Professional Development (TPD) program provided me with the opportunity to select a topic in which I have a strong foundation. I developed a professional development session aimed at equipping educators with practical strategies for implementing effective literacy skills within their classrooms. This initiative allowed me to leverage my own experiences and insights gathered from data collected in my classroom, enabling me to identify specific areas where teachers may require support in fostering student success.
In crafting this professional development program, I focused on enhancing mastery in core curriculum areas while also integrating Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) practices. By combining these elements, I aimed to create a program that not only addresses academic proficiency but also nurtures the emotional well-being of students. In this artifact I demonstrate my ability to share my ideas in a logical order and share data collected.
Throughout the program, creativity was fostered through the development of engaging writing prompts, worksheets that enhance understanding, and visually appealing infographics in presentations. These elements not only encourage innovative thinking but also make learning more dynamic and enjoyable for students.
Canva is a graphic design platform that allows users to create content such as presentations, posters, infographics, and worksheets. In the classroom, I utilize Canva to enhance lessons by designing visual aids and resources that cater to diverse learning styles and academic levels. In the images you can see various resources that I was able to create to help support various lessons in my classes over the course of the MAED program. Each resorce was created with a specific skill or standard in mind.
The all about me resource allowed me to not only allow students to get to know me as a teacher but also allowed me to know my students to curate lessons around their needs and interests.
This resource was used in one of my literacy courses in order to find out more about my students and their interests. By creating my own all about me form I was able to understand their lives as well as family dynamics that may effect students. This helps me showcase my ability to understand individual student needs.
This resource was used to enhance a 10 day writing unit around the 100th day of school. We read Jakes 100th Day of school then talked about the 100 year old lady who visited the class. Students then were asked to complete a writing where they talked about something they wanted to do before they were 100. This demonstrates my ability to create cohesive lessons incorporating both reading and writing standards.
This resource was created in order to help students who needed extra assistance in reading and writing. The students were still working on letter name and sound recognition. This resource shows my ability to create differentiated instructional tools for students.
This resource was created in order to find out what each student enjoys. This allows me to choose books that interest my students and also see what areas I may need to push them to read because they may not want to read the genre on their own. This shows my ability to understand student needs.
