We wanted to make a tower that could withstand an earthquake or other natural disasters. We found inspiration of the Interstate commerce tower and built our tower based on it.
(Initial Sketch)
We didn't have a design for prototype 1. This tower was going to be made out of toothpicks. The goal was to Have the tower under 40g,Had to reach a height of 49cm ,Withstand at least the avg class weight, Stay within toothpick limit, and have a 90% efficiency
(Initial Sketch)
This tower was intended to be more strong than prototype 1. This tower was made of stronger wood.
Overall, our test went well. We were satisfied with the result of our tower’s durability. The tower held up to 60g of lateral weight.
It was able to hold 350 grams , which is an improvement from prototype 1
(Completed)
Was rigged and didn't hold much weight
weighed aroud 80 grams
(Completed)
Looks more straight and more organized.
We had a plan so it looks more professional than the first.
weighted around 122 grams
Prototype 1:
Sept- Planning
Oct- Started building, getting the base done, started building up
November- Finishing the tower and testing, didn't really do good
Prototype 2:
Jan- Started planning
Feb- Finished the base and started building the stories section by section
March- Finished the tower and tested, was better than prototype 1

Prototype 1
Prototype #2
The difference between Prototype 1 and 2 was that we had different experiences in working as a team. In the first one, we didn't have much of a plan but the next time around we did. We sometimes stayed afterschool and worked on the project, which is where communication comes in to play.
