Commercial Design
This project was located in the heart of Downtown Des Moines, where we were assigned an empty building with the objective of transforming it into a functional commercial space. The resulting concept was The Roast and Rise Café, a modern and inviting café environment.
The project emphasized key components of spatial design, beginning with space planning and conceptual brainstorming. From there, I progressed through the schematic design phase, selecting furniture and defining the overall aesthetic to align with the café's brand and atmosphere. The design was developed using Autodesk Revit, allowing for detailed planning and visualization of the final space.
Residential Design
This project was a smaller-scale, technically focused residential design centered around the creation of a dedicated home office space. The primary goal was to design an efficient and functional room that balanced productivity with comfort, while also making optimal use of limited square footage.
Utilizing SketchUp as the primary design tool, I developed a detailed 3D model to represent the spatial layout and design elements of the office. Throughout the process, I implemented a phased design approach, carefully evaluating different layout options, furniture selections, and spatial arrangements. This allowed for a thorough exploration of how the space could best serve its intended purpose.
This project served as an opportunity to apply technical skills in a residential setting, with a strong emphasis on detail, usability, and thoughtful planning.
Varied Hand-Rendered Floor Plans
One of the aspects I enjoy most about interior design is the opportunity to integrate my passion for drawing into the creative process. Whether I’m working on floor plans, elevations, or 3D visualizations, I find great fulfillment in applying my artistic skills to bring design concepts to life.
Art has always been a significant part of my life, and interior design has given me a platform to channel that creativity in a purposeful and impactful way. Being able to translate ideas into visual representations not only enhances the clarity of a design but also allows me to express my unique perspective. Incorporating hand-drawing techniques and artistic detail into professional presentations is something I truly value, as it adds a personal and expressive touch to each project.
