Riley 2025-2026 - Welcome letter

Dear Families,

I would like to start by saying how very excited I am to have your child in my Kindergarten classroom this year!! I promise that we have an amazing year of learning and fun together!

The first day of Kindergarten is Tuesday, September3rd. Kindergarten Open House sneak peek will be held an Thursday, August 29th. The open house offers a great opportunity for you and your child to meet me and visit my classroom together, as well as an opportuunity for your child to meet meet some of his/her classmates! Group 1 will be at 9;00-9:30 with students and families with the last name beginning (A-L) and group 2 will be at 9:45-10:15 with students and families with the last name beginning (M-Z).

I will also send newsletters, updates, volunteer requests and reminders by email to families.

IMPORTANT INFO

As we begin our Kindergarten year, there are some important details I’d like to share with you:

Please label all of your child's belongings.

Please send in a complete change of clothes for the current season labeled in a gallon sized plastic bag to keep at school.

A backpack is essential to bring to school each day. Please make sure that a standard size folder fits inside the backpack.

Please have your child attach his/her bus tag to his/her backpack. The office requires a note for any change in your child’s transportation schedule.

Snack and lunch are very important parts of the day! Please be sure to pack a snack with a drink and a lunch with a drink. You will be able to purchase lunch and/or milk/water from the cafeteria. Please include necessary snack utensils.

Supplies are greatly & gratefully appreciated! Materials used regularly are disinfectant wipes, hand wipes, hand soap & paper towels. We have limited space so please wait for the Room Parents to contact you. Thank you so much!

My newsletters and other important information will be posted on my web site. The web site may be accessed by opening the Elm Street Home Page and clicking on the Staff Directory, the icon of a "head" towards the bottom of the page, then search my name Riley, lastly click on the "globe" icon. Please let me know if you need a hard copy.

I will be looking for two room parents. A room parent may be asked to collect various supplies needed for the classroom, help coordinate various activities that may come up during the year, etc.

Throughout the year I will send home Scholastic Reading Club catalogs. Do not feel obligated to buy these books. If you decide to purchase books, please use the classroom code provided WWQHR.
