☆WORKSHOPS/Classes☆
‘Garments as vessels’. 2021.
“Self Exploration: Drawing, Sculpture, Writing + Garmentry”
Course description:
Students will design and develop garment prototypes that express a concept of their own. Design development and use of traditional and unconventional garment construction methods will be explored throughout the semester. The design will be based on materials on hand and evolve using collage and painting to reimagine the final look. Students that attend all ten classes will have experience with a variety of materials and can begin to construct their garments at home. Throughout the creative process, we will analyze our artistic choices and search for meaning in the materials used. Garment construction, human form, adhesion technique, and contextualization will all be discussed throughout this class to remind students that their process is not confined to a pair of steps and that they should listen to their intuition when producing a piece of art. Ari Serrano, Alexander McQueen, DJ Chappel, Telfar Clemens, and Elisha Brockenberry will be used as references throughout the semester
Final projects will be displayed at The Norwalk Art Space on December 15, 2022 with a formal opening reception
