Effective date: 1 September 2026
This policy covers the Android apps made by Rift Source ("we," "us," "our"), based in the Netherlands, as well as this website. It applies to every app we publish under the Rift Source name.
THE SHORT VERSION
Our apps don't have accounts, don't have a login, and don't send your data to us. Everything you enter (dates, notes, numbers, whatever the app is for) stays stored on your own phone. The only outside services involved are Google showing ads, Google handling payment, and Google running this website, all described below.
WHAT WE COLLECT
Nothing, directly. We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal details to use the app. There's no account to make.
Anything an app saves (your notes, settings, a list you built, etc.) is stored only on your device, using Android's local storage. We never see it, and it's never uploaded anywhere by us.
If an app needs a device permission to do its job (camera for a scanner app, microphone for a sound-level app, and so on), that permission is used only for that feature, on your device, and nothing it captures is sent to us.
If you email us for support, we see whatever you choose to put in that email (your email address, and whatever you write). We only use it to reply to you.
ADS (GOOGLE ADMOB)
Some of our apps are free and show ads to make money, through Google AdMob. AdMob is run by Google, not us. We don't build or control it.
To show and measure ads, AdMob can collect things like your device's advertising ID and general usage data (not your name or anything you typed into the app). We never receive or store this ourselves. It goes straight to Google. You can turn off personalized ads for your device in your phone's own settings (Settings, then Privacy, then Ads, on Android), and you can read Google's own privacy policy for exactly what it collects:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
Google's page on how AdMob and ads data are used:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Apps that are fully free with no ads, or where you've bought the "remove ads" option, don't show ads and don't use AdMob.
PURCHASES
Some apps offer a one-time purchase (for example, "remove ads" or "unlock Pro"). These go through Google Play Billing, Google's own payment system built into the Play Store. We never see or store your card details; Google handles the whole transaction. We only find out that a purchase happened, not how you paid for it.
We don't offer subscriptions, and we don't use any payment processor other than Google Play Billing.
THIS WEBSITE
This site is built with Google Sites, Google's own website tool. Google may collect basic technical data about visits to this site (such as general location, browser type, and pages viewed) simply by running the Google Sites service, even without anything extra added on our side.
We may also add Google Analytics to this site at some point, to see how many people visit and which pages they read. If we do, it works the same way as the Ads section above: Google collects the data, not us. The same two links above cover exactly what that involves. We'll update this section if that changes.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Our apps aren't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone that age. Since we don't collect personal information from anyone in the first place, there's nothing to remove, but if you believe a child has contacted us directly (for example, by email), contact us and we'll delete that message.
YOUR RIGHTS
Because we don't hold any personal data about you (see "What we collect" above), there's generally nothing on file to access or delete. If you've emailed us, you can ask us to delete that email thread at any time. Contact us using the details below.
If you're in the European Economic Area, this is handled under GDPR; our legal basis for the small amount of contact data above is your consent (you chose to email us).
WHERE THIS IS HOSTED
We're based in the Netherlands. Any data that does exist (like a support email) is handled from there. Google's ad, payment, and website-hosting services (described above) may process data outside the Netherlands under their own privacy policies, linked above.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top and post the new version here. If the change is significant, we'll say so clearly at the top of the page for a while.
