I am currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, an advanced research institute established by Reserve Bank of India. I did my Ph.D. in Economics from the Department of Economics at the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. I am an applied trade economist with a focus on intellectual property rights, trade, and innovation. I am on the 2025-26 Job Market.
My doctoral thesis entitled, “Essays on Intellectual Property Rights and Trade”, consists of three chapters, each of which focuses on the different aspects of intellectual property protection. It leverages the recent advances in structural gravity models, standard panel data estimation techniques, and quasi-experimental methods to assess whether IPRs are indeed trade-related.
I earned my M.A. in Economics from the University of Kashmir and B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from the Government Degree College for Boys, Anantnag.
I have held teaching position in Economics at the Department of Economics, University of Kashmir and School of Open Learning, University of Delhi.
