Come join us for a weekend of mindful movements, stillness, and playful exploration! Using the framework of the Paramita, we will practice finding harmony while riding the waves of change and transition in our lives with the beautiful qualities of generosity, morality, renunciation, wisdom, energy, patience, truthfulness, resolve, kindness, and equanimity.
InterPlay is an easy and creative practice that uses natural movements, stillness, voice and stories to touch into the wisdom of our body and group energy. InterPlay often brings people into a place of playfulness, deep connection and even surprise at our own insights. The session usually starts with a warm up for the body and spirit. All physical abilities are welcomed and can be adapted to what you're comfortable with.
Time : Friday June 30 (afternoon) - Sunday July 2 (lunch), 2023

The ten Parami include the qualities of generosity, morality, renunciation, discernment or Wisdom, energy, patience, truthfulness, resolve, kindness, and equanimity. We draw on Ajahn Sucitto's work and book, Parami: Ways to Cross Life's Floods (free downloadable ebook). While the Parami as concepts can seem abstract or distant from our daily lives, the facilitators use Interplay movement and Plum Village practices to help us explore how these qualities already live in our bodies and experiences, and how we can cultivate them for greater stability, freedom, and joy in our lives.
We invite retreatants to engage with mindfulness practices from the Plum Village tradition, founded by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, including sitting meditation, walking meditation, deep relaxation, mindful eating, and circle sharing. Inspired by Dharma teacher, Kaira Jewel Lingo and others, the facilitators combine these practices with Interplay movement forms, allowing us to engage with movement, breath, and storytelling through easy, incremental invitations that help us tune into and honor our body's wisdom and freedom in the present moment. Participants will also get to enjoy solo reflection and movement time in the beautiful Los Angeles National Forest.
This retreat is being offered on a donation basis and we hope to make the retreat as financially accessible as possible. We ask retreatants to contribute a $150 minimum donation by June 23, 2023 to cover the cost of facilities, food, and staffing via Paypal Fundraiser.
Dana is a practice of generosity with a long history in Buddhist tradition. The purpose is to support those sharing wisdom teachings and is one of the qualities of Paramita we hope to embody during these retreat weekends. Beyond the retreat minimum, additional dana donations are greatly appreciated to support the retreat organizers and to continue to share Riding the Waves events with others. When you reflect on how much you will contribute for the retreat, please consider the individual time, travel, and preparation for the facilitators and staff, as well as the resources provided and needed to maintain Harmony Pine camp.
By reflecting, choosing abundance, and paying it forward you are helping us move towards a relationship that is rooted in generosity and reciprocity.
Thank you!

In this talk from the final day of the Riding the Waves retreat, Linds begins with a few minutes of body-based meditation while My offers sound healing. In the talk, Linds explores how we integrate Plum Village mindfulness practices, InterPlay movement, and the 10 Parami from Ajahn Sucitto's book in our daily lives to help us navigate change. Linds shares five body-based practices to take home: rest, connecting with body wisdom, time in nature, play, and gratitude/affirmation and offers journaling or reflections prompts to help us identify how to put these qualities into practice.
