Varsity Head Coach | jason.wonderlich@vallivue.org

My name is Jason Wonderlich and I am the new Head Baseball Coach at Ridgevue High School. I am extremely excited for this opportunity and wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as we prepare for the upcoming season.

In my professional life, I teach Leadership, Health, and PE classes at a local high school. Recently, I completed my Masters degree in Educational Research with an emphasis in Social-Emotional Learning. I am an Idaho native and a graduate of Vallivue High School. I live on the property I grew up on with my wife, Meghan, our two children Luke (11) and Anne (9), and many horses and dogs.

Throughout my life, baseball has been a key element that has shaped me into the person I am today. During my high school baseball career at VHS my achievements included selections to All Conference and All State teams, and a USA Today All-American Honorable Mention.

My college baseball career began as a member of the 2000 College of Idaho team, where I had the opportunity to play in the NAIA College World Series. In 2001, I played for Palomar Community College and had the opportunity to play in the CCCAA State Playoffs. I finished my college career at Northwest Nazarene University. In my time at NNU I was selected to the GNAC All Conference 2nd team as well as being named the Paul’s Market Player of the Year in 2003.

In 2009, my high school coaching career began at Rocky Mountain High School, where I coached until 2018. Throughout that time, I had the privilege of being part of the varsity coaching staff for multiple District and Conferences Championship teams, and the 2012 Idaho 5A State Baseball Championship team.

That all being said, I believe baseball is much more than accolades and honors. I believe that baseball is bigger than just a game. When approached in the right way, baseball is a means to develop skills and characteristics that are essential to success in the classroom, work force, and the community.

As Warhawks, we will build a program that establishes transparent and consistent expectations through prioritizing fundamentals, while creating a culture that focuses on the impact your Effort and Attitude have on your success.

We will empower our players by teaching them to Control What Can Be Controlled so as to overcome adversity while also instilling the belief that a team must function as ONE, with the unwavering understanding that Together We Are Better.

As I have already said but can’t express enough, I am extremely excited for this opportunity and the journey we are about to begin!
