The head coach and at least one assistant coach must complete the concussion training.   Please find additional information on this HERE.  It has step-by-step instructions on how to complete this training and where to upload your certificate. 

• Practice can start the week of March 31st

• Head coach determines cancellations regarding practices and games. 

• If the infield is too wet,  practice can take place in the outfield grass.  Some practice is better than no practice. 

• If you happen to check the field early in the day please share your thoughts with everyone else via text message.  If I can't make it out there around 3pm; I will call one of the village workers or I will call someone near Morral to check the fields for me.  We have played many games in Morral when the rest of the county has cancelled their games, so don't assume it's too wet.

• Please return bases to the equipment shed and place the rubber base plugs in the sleeves- it helps with quick field setup.

• Please LOCK the equipment shed before you leave.

• Unlock Bathrooms if you are the FIRST Practice/ Game of the night. (After they have been opened for the Spring)

• Lock Bathrooms if you are LAST practice/ game.

• Additional supplies for the bathroom are in the concession stand.  I try to keep the bathrooms in order, but sometimes toilet paper and soap run out, please be helpful if someone says something.

• Baseball Bat Guidelines

  • Any bat with the USA Baseball stamp is to be considered a legal bat. This includes the 2 5/8” barrel. Beginning in 2020 the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp will be illegal. All bats going forward will be required to have the USA Baseball stamp. See image with USA Baseball Stamp.

  • Wood bats are legal. If it is NOT one solid piece of wood, then it must meet the Marion County Baseball Association requirements.

- Bamboo bats are not legal.

- Bats with metal handles and wood barrels are not legal.

• • Softball Bat Guidelines

    • • • -Bats shall be stamped with either the ASA 2000, ASA 2004, USA Softball Certified or USA, Softball certification mark and not be on the ASA/USA non-approved list which can be found at www.usasoftball.com

• Fields are generally dragged/ mowed on the weekends.

• Coaches will line the field when necessary for their games.

• All tools and materials required for lining the field are found in the equipment shed.

• T-Ball and Coach Pitch games require additional field lines, please make sure to review the rules for specifics and always make the halfway lines between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, & 3rd and Home, it makes your games less confrontational.

• There is a rectangle PVC  template in the equipment shed that can be used for the batters box. I suggest using it if you line the batters box. 

• Federal, Little League, Softball Division C & Softball Division B require one umpire to call the game.

• Head coaches are responsible for lining up their own umpires./ Brad helps with this!

  • Call early to schedule, they can be tough to find

  • Call/ Text a few days prior to confirm

  • If you cancel a game, don't forget to call your umpire.

• Umpires are paid $50

  • • Payment follows at the conclusion of the game

    • Payment comes from the concession stand money box

      • Head coach or designee pays the umpire the night of

      • Complete paperwork to pay umpires
